Thousands of Stocks Already Experiencing Bear Market
Investors need not wonder when a bear market will hit. For thousands of stocks, it already is here. According to the July 29, 1998 issue of the Wall Street Journal:
5,375 stocks (having capitalization of $250 million or less) are down 43% from their 52 week high;
1,985 stocks (having capitalization of $250 million to $2 billion) are down 25% from their 52 week high; and
Hundreds of medium and larger cap stocks also are down, ranging from 12% to 20% off their 52 week high.
Investors should review their portfolios to determine what, if any, losses they have experienced and what corrective action they should take.
